The innovative range of new Panasonic Tablet PCs are focused on the needs of specific users. Models in the range carry the Toughbook label. The Toughbook computers provide and easy to see, clear display in full daylight. They are also designed to protect the three components most at risk in a mobile computer. These are the keyboard, hard disk drive and the display panel. Toughbooks can go the distance. They can survive kicks, bumps and hard drops. Panasonic has launched three Toughbook groups being the Medical Rugged group, the Business Rugged plus the All Rugged group.
One of the toughest units in the range is the CF-31. It is the tablet notebook to reach for when failure is not an option. It delivers unparalleled durability with unmatched reliability. Users who have handled the CF-31 report that it has changed the way they view mobile PCs. The unit can be dropped and shocked; it can also be subjected to moisture, dust, temperature and pressure extremes well beyond normal notebooks. In addition to this ruggedization, the CF-31 is also capable of first-class wireless connectivity, making it the perfect computer for mobile field workers in extreme environments.
The robust CF-31 Toughbook incorporates a ground-breaking LCD screen that is reputed to be the brightest in the industry while at the same time delivering low reflection. Combined, these features produce superior display even in bright ambient daylight.
Drops and falls are a high probability event for mobile computers. When used in the field, they often accidentally get dropped or fall from their resting surface. Yachtsmen, for example, working at the navigation table of their pitching and rolling yacht know the agony of watching their notebook slide from the table and crash to the floor. The hard drive is very vulnerable to shock from a fall. Business Rugged Toughbooks can survive, hard 76cm falls without sustaining damage; in particular, the hard disk remaining safe and functioning.
The integrated Intel Core i5-520M processor delivers the highest calculating performance with highly efficient energy consumption. A lithium-ion battery provides up to 11 hours of operating time. The CF-31 also incorporates an anechoic chamber, being a non-echoing (or an-echoic) space designed to prevent reflection of electromagnetic waves. This design together with the dual diversity wireless antennae in the display housing combine to allow the CF-31 to deliver optimum data transfer and superior Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.
The CF-31 operating system is Microsoft Windows 7. The unit has a 160GB hard disk, 2GB main memory (DDR3 SDRAM) expandable to 8GB. Interfacing ability includes with four USB ports, one serial port, one modem port (RJ 11), one LAN port (RJ 45) and one external display port and one HDMI port (Type A).
Importantly, within the range of Panasonic Tablet PCs, the CF-C1 consumes minimal power, an important consideration for users that travel to locations not connected to the main electricity grid. The unit consumes only about 0.7 watts of power when the battery is discharged. If the AC adapter is connected to PC, maximum power draw from the electricity supply is only 0.3 watts.
