Making A Duvet Cover
If you have been trying tobuy a duvet cover then you probably know how expensive it is to make such a purchase. Well the next best option is to just do it yourself. In this article I will present some few ideas on how you can go about doing this.
As a starter the outcome may not be the best quality like your every day duvet cover set you find in stores but depending on how fast you catch on it can be something to be proud of. The first hurdle you are probably going to encounter is that of making the perfect insertion point i.e. where the sheets are inserted. You may have a challenge in closing off the top where you have your closures.
To try and assist you with this, start by organizing the sheets. Go for a material that you absolutely adore – for example if you want a suede, velvet and satin duvet cover then buy material made from that particular style or fabric. Have the side pinned and the bottom pinned as well before you consider the top and how to fold the top sides.
Find the spot where the two sheet ends are joined together and make buttonholes. This should be at the top, right and then use the buttons to close. You do have an option to use ribbons if you love them. If the sheet is longer than the quilt then fold it down on one side – about 12 inches. Then stitch it on the sides like an envelope closure.
When it comes to choosing the closure you can go for Velcro if you like something stiff, a zipper, snap tape or just snaps. My best option is nylon zippers. This is because they make it easy for me to dress up the bed.
